I’ve been mentally ill pretty much my whole entire life, and it isn’t something I see going away any time soon. I don’t see that as an inherently bad thing.
Read...It’s a dangerous and challenging time for many of us to have a body in the United States. There are things we can do to not only love our bodies but give them our support during the era of the bigoted, fat shaming, twitter tantrum throwing man-baby who is, for now, our president.
Read...Having a program to support you does not mean everything gets fixed right away. Nothing is ever that easy when you have a disability or chronic illness.
Read...I have dyspraxia, which means that I’m terribly clumsy. Where other people fetch a glass without even paying the action any notice, I have to think consciously about stretching my arm; about calculating the force with which my fingers will encompass the object, or about the way I’ll have to hold it in order not to drop it. Everyone does it, of course. But not everyone does it consciously, the way I do.
