As with most things involving space, I find the concept of our solar system's vast size to be both awe-inspiring and utterly terrifying.
To convey this vastness in all its alarming glory, artist Alphonse Swineheart has created a 45-minute video that takes viewers on a visual wonderland of a journey from the sun to the planets orbiting it. Using a time clock, Swineheart reveals just how ridiculously long it takes to move around this universe we inhabit, even when going at the speed of light.
It's a gorgeously rendered and scored film that presents humanity for what it is: one teeny tiny fleck on a much larger canvas that we've only just begun to understand.
It is both awe-inspiring and utterly terrifying.
Enjoy!
