It's not often that something I read on Facebook strikes a chord (except for my daily dose of HONY-induced tears, of course), but this morning I was hit in the feels by a post from TV writer Caissie St. Onge.
While St. Onge is best known for writing for funny folks like Letterman and Rosie, her FB post this morning about weight and weight loss was as authentic as it gets.
If you woke up this morning needing a reminder that you are valuable and worthwhile no matter your BMI, St. Onge's words will give you exactly that. And if you woke up thinking that your fat friends and strangers on the Internet need your help and concern about their weight, St. Onge will clear that up for you, too.
It's hard to be fat in America, no matter how devoted you are to body positivity. It's okay to falter and to need help remembering that you are worthwhile no matter what you look like –– and that everyone else is, too. St. Onge's words this morning are a glorious, always needed, and delightfully timely reminder that it may be January, and you may still be fat, but you are not a failure.
