Lea Grover

Bio

Lea Grover is a writer, blogger, and speaker in Chicago. She started publishing poetry at nine years old but transitioned to predominantly writing prose after studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Lea’s writing is featured in a dozen anthologies and textbooks, including “Listen To Your Mother: What She Said Then, What We’re Saying Now,” and the upcoming 5th edition of "Sex Matters: The Sexuality and Society Reader." She speaks about sex positive parenting and on behalf of the RAINN Speakers Bureau as a survivor of multiple rapes. In 2007, her then-fiancé was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. After a battle with Postpartum Depression, she began to understand the nuances of diseases of the brain, and how similar the effects of brain cancer and mental illness can be. Seeing her PTSD with the benefits of hindsight, reflecting on her mental illness experience and her husband's triumph over brain cancer, she sat down to write the story. Her memoir, “When and Always,” is coming soon!
