Karelia Stetz-Waters

Karelia is an English professor by day, writer by night (and early morning). She is author of The Admirer (Sapphire Books) and Forgive Me If I’ve Told You This Before (Ooligan Press, coming fall 2014). Her short story “The Gold Star Question” is featured in the anthology First Time, an anthology about lost virginity. Her passion as a writer is to present lesbian characters in well-crafted fiction. She lives with her beloved wife, Fay, her pug dog, Lord Byron, and her cat, Cyrus the Disemboweler. Karelia draws her inspiration from her wonderfully literate parents and from a lifetime of literary study. Her favorite writers include Jeanette Winterson, Sarah Waters, and Annie Dillard as well as classics such as T. S. Elliot, e. e. cummings, and W. H. Auden. Her interests include large snakes, conjoined twins, corn mazes, lesbians, popular science books on neurology, and any roadside attraction that purports to have the world’s largest ball of twine.
