Media coverage in the wake of Robin Williams’ death has revealed a vast array of his roles I never knew about, in addition to the many I saw in his jam-packed 1990s career. To be honest, I didn’t even realize he did stand-up—funny, since many people were apparently transfixed by his performance in this medium. Indeed, the copious tributes to the manic performer have reintroduced me to his breadth of talent, and to the insightful man revealed in interviews.
So here we bring you a montage of some of Williams’ greatest roles—from comedy to life-imitating-art tragedy. His loss is all the more acute given his universal recognition as an incredibly kind man.
