Amanda Seyfried Was Paid Significantly Less Than Her Male Co-Stars, But There's Still Hope

We shouldn't be surprised at this point, but I digress.

Actress Amanda Seyfried revealed in an interview with the Sunday Times that she was paid less than her male co-stars in several of her movies. How much, you ask? Just a few bucks, right?

Nope.

"A few years ago, on one of my big-budget films, I found I was being paid 10 percent of what my male co-star was getting, and we were pretty even in status,” the Ted 2 actress admitted. "I think people think, because I’m easygoing and game to do things, I’ll just take as little as they offer. But it’s not about how much you get, it’s about how fair it is.”

10 percent?! Oh hell no. This is one-fourth of the Mean Girls quartet. Come on, she even has ESPN (or something)!

The gender wage gap has been an especially hot topic since Sony leaked Hollywood’s pay disparity, which included the mega-popular Jennifer Lawrence's salary snub for her work in American Hustle. Even our glorious nation's media has shown a disturbing gender gap on how the news is reported.

Before you sob alone into a bottle of wine fret too much, know that some powerful people are taking action. Meryl Streep took a bold step when she asked Congress to revive the Equal Rights Amendment (which guarantees equal rights for women). Maybe things aren't where they should be for women now, but thanks to fearless females like Streep we are slowly heading in the right direction.

As for Seyfried, it seems like she might be taking back some of the power. In her interview, she concluded: “You have to decide if you’re willing to walk away from something, especially as a woman." (Baby steps, everyone!)

Now, curious minds want to know: Which film? Mamma Mia with Dominic Cooper? Letters to Juliet with Christopher Egan? Dear John with Channing Tatum? Whichever it is, I feel like I just can't enjoy it now.
