What are you doing in Emeryville today?
Just enjoying my day off, hanging out with the boyfriend. We’re going to do some shopping. [What are you shopping for?] Whatever he wants to buy for me—that's the general plan.
That sounds really awesome, congratulations! Can you tell me about your tattoos?
Yeah! Oh man, I have a whole bunch of them, my favorite one is the rose on the side of my head. It was probably the most painful so I feel like I put the most value on that one. Not a lot of them have a meaning so much anymore because I’ve just got so many. My first tattoo was my dad’s name on my side so that means something, but other than that I just like tattoos. I’m a big fan of American traditional tattoo style.
How would you describe your personal style in a few words?
Constantly changing and whatever’s cheap—a combination of the two.
What about your clock necklace? Is that really ticking? And your other jewelry?
Not right now, it did in the past. It was my great Aunt Marie’s, she passed and this is one of the things that I got. This necklace is my rat skull, I got it for Valentines day. It matches my ring which is a cat skull. I got it because you [to her boyfriend] got a really nice paycheck and I got a gift.
Let’s talk about your piercings:
My septum: Least painful piercing of my life.
My frenulum (the weird one in my gums): [Did it hurt to get that?] It hurt to get it, but it doesn’t hurt now. Anyone who's had braces knows you just get used to anything that’s in your mouth. [How do you brush your teeth?] I just brush under it. I actually went to the dentist last week and they were all creeped out by it, but I still got my teeth cleaned and X-rays and everything. The X-rays look really weird.
What do you do these days?
I work at the New Parkway Theater in Oakland, over on 24th Street. You know, slinging beer and popcorn.
I love New Parkway Theater, it's a great spot! What do you like to do in your free time?
I work a lot, so when I have free time I like to chill—like Netflix and ice cream. You know what I mean? That’s the ultimate night for me. When I get out of work early I’m like, 'I’m not going out, I’m going to eat ice cream at home!'
