September 14th. The day Targets all over the country will be flooded with hungry fashionistas, blood thumping through their veins and foam at their mouths. (Unless, like me you know of a secret Target in a small town where nobody cares about fashion.) These well-heeled beasts will be after Joseph Altuzarra's touch of genius, of course.
Ever since the retailer announced its last collaboration, women everywhere started dreaming of figure-hugging dresses and delicate prints. And the look book, so far, does not disappoint—in fact some pieces manage to rise above Altuzarra's expected awesomeness.
Here are my top five picks from the collection: (Please stay the hell away from them if you see me sprinting through the door.)
1. The Burgundy suit, 39.99 and 59.99$. Why: cool, unusual suits are so hard to come by, and this one—tuxedo stripes and all—looks pretty perfect to me. I'll be rocking it through fall, with brogues and a lacy top. Like a naughty lady-pirate.
2. The birds sweater, 49.99$. Why: who doesn't love a simple, black off-the-shoulder staple? Altuzarra adds a kick of luxury with the oriental embroidery element, and the cheeky top instantly becomes a must-have.
3. The boho dresses, all of them, 59.99-69.99$. Why: although there's been very justified turmoil over the collection not having plus-sizes, no one can say the designer didn't take care of the C-cup girls. Those dresses, with the steamy slits and billowy sleeves, are as sexy as they are roomy.
4. The snake-print skirt, 34.99$. Why: it is, perhaps, the most 'Altuzarra' piece in the collection—feminine pencil skirts with sophisticated cuts are a signature staple of the designer, and there's few things sexier when worn with a denim shirt and heels.
5. The furry coat, 69.99$. Why: it's fake fur, of course, so my consciences is clear. I do adore a fuzzy, cuddly piece of outwear, and this fashion-forward version has my name all over it.
(Now it's your turn. Dream on!)
