Ah, big city living—it’s easy to get caught up in the grind of urban life, not to mention the claustrophobia of having civilization crammed into every nook and cranny.
That’s why height can be the best friend of a city dweller. Here, artist Chris Pritchard provides timelapse views of sunny Los Angeles two years in the making, from high-above ledges. As he says, “Once you get even slightly above, the views and sounds begin to change dramatically.”
Gargantuan buildings turn to tiny specs, the flood of city lights to a valley of golden glitter, the masses of cars into a string of frenzied ants—all juxtaposed against the city’s natural surroundings and revealed as day turns to night. Oh yes, it’s glorious.
Come view the workings of humans like an alien surveying the curious blue planet and its sprawling metropolises that never sleep. Your return to the toils of the grounded earthling may be jarring, but you could suddenly find yourself wise beyond your years. Or at least slightly more zen afore your 1 pm staff meeting.
