Our favorite guilty pleasure, The Bachelorette, was off the air last week (come back, Andi!), giving us plenty of time to reflect on all the contestants. And it didn't take long to realize something: no one is half as interesting as J.J O'Brien, who recently got to spend a day with Andy wearing 80s (as in age group, not the decade) make-up and clothing.
In the first episode, as hunky men kept pouring out of the limos accompanied by titles such as "farmer" and "social media manager," J.J had the mysterious profession "pantsapreneur." Thinking it might be an ABC prank, or god forbid a new social media trend, we googled the funny word and found . . . nothing. Apparently, J.J came up with it himself. Why? He is, indeed, the proud owner of an ironic pants brand.
That's right: the San Francisco resident (and Stanford University alum!) is no boring office rat. He is the founder of Hem Haus, a fashion brand that successfully sells furry vests and cool pants, all made in the U.S., to men. "Here at Hem Haus, we like to say we create interactive apparel for a life less ordinary. Come join the fun," says the website—and the invite is damn near impossible to resist. O'Brien's Instagram account is also brimming with hilarious photos in which he dons the aforementioned vests and pants to various parties and events.
There's even an image of him in a faded T, holding a rose and toasting his polished, suit-wearing Bachelorette alter ego on screen, with a caption calling the show a "hot mess." Stylish and able to laugh at himself? We'll take it. (Extra bonus points for describing himself on Instagram as "the owner of a Price is Right bedroom set.")
Hopefully, Andi won't lose sight of this guy's potential amid a sea of stiff and unnaturally groomed men. The producers of the show courted this guy for two years for good reason, likely hoping to add some flair. And if Andi does let him go, there must be tons of intelligent, offbeat ladies who'd go for the love of this pantsapreneur—especially if he's wearing a furry vest and some fierce paisley pants.
