Every once in a while, a news item suggests that a brand new dawn is upon us. Five years ago—hell, even last year—could you have imagined a respected symphony company hooking up with the doobie industry to sponsor a cannabis-friendly concert series?
Well, stoners, rejoice. Because in this era of citizen-embraced legal weed, this is happening. That's right, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra is partnering with local cannabis sponsors to promote a toker-friendly music series aimed at luring a younger audience. And it boasts a delightful name to boot: "Classically Cannabis: The High Note Series." (A music-marijuana pun? Hell yes!)
Said a man involved with one of the local marijuana companies sponsoring the series:
You can be intelligent and savvy and enjoy cannabis as well.
Indeed, something seismic is happening. Not long ago, marijuana was considered the vice of vagrant hippies and perpetually brain-numbed slackers sleeping on their parents' couches. The fact that the upper-crust symphony is embracing weed suggests this perception has shifted, and dramatically so. Increasingly, it seems, people recognize that smart, successful folks can enjoy a joint, too...right alongside their favorite stirring stanza of Bach.
Now, here's hoping for more inspired partnerships down the road. Cat on a Hot Tin Roofie? The Toker of Seville? Ah, the possibilities are endless.
