Shortly after Miles Davis released his benchmark album, Bitches Brew, in 1970, he played a mind-melting four-night stint at New York City’s Fillmore East. When it originally went down, the highlights from each show were released on the now infamous double-LP set Miles Davis at the Fillmore. Let’s be honest though, even though Davis has so. much. music. our vinyls are gettin' a little worn out—we want more!
Great news jazz-heads. Not only are Davis’ 1970 shows being re-released, they're being re-released in their original form! [No edits, no cuts, no missed notes—fist-pump!] We'll get to hear music from the shows that was never released, which means that unless you were a preeminent jazz-o-phile in Davis' inner circle ... you've probably never heard these cuts. Ever.
So bring on the horn-laden, snare-centric, jazz-rock soul-simmering fusion! The new funk set won’t be out for another week, but if you really can’t wait for the full shows’ audio (we couldn’t), Legacy Recordings gave a sneak peak of ‘Paraphernalia’ to Esquire! B*stards!
Miles At the Fillmore—Miles Davis 1970: The Bootleg Series Vol. 3 contains four unaltered CDs, one for each night of shake-yer-tail-feather funk glory, and yes! can be pre-ordered on Amazon now!
